January 31st...wow tomorrow is February 1st!!

Good afternoon!! Wow it's hard to believe that today is the last day of January...I always think when February gets here that Spring can't be far behind!!
We are under a Heavy Snow Warning and they are predicting about 6 inches of snow between late tonight and tomorrow night. I am glad I don't have to think about getting out in the morning and getting to work with bad roads..(I think I am liking this retirement!!)
Hubby and I are going to Weight Watchers tonight..this is the first I have been back since my surgery on the 18th..The lecturer knows about the weight of the cystic mass they removed (18 lbs) but the rest of those at the meeting will be shocked at my weight loss for the last 2 weeks!! We probably will go out for supper after the meeting..that will be nice for a change. Fred has done really well taking care of the meals while I was first home from the hospital..daughter Lori sent over several meals and that helped a lot!! I am feeling so good it is still hard to comprehend it's just 2 weeks tomorrow..God is soooo Good!!

Wednesday?? Where'd Tuesday go????

I am doing good....my recuperation from the surgery has been amazing...I can't believe that it's only been 12 days...yesterday I had the staples (All 40 of them!!) and the drainage tube removed and the nurse was so surprised on how well the incision was healed. I already feel so much better than I had felt for the past 6-7 months...so glad I finally paid attention to what my body was telling me and went to the doctor!! Oh yes one more PTL..the final results from pathology came back and all reports are GOOD!! All benign...thank you Jesus!! Last night was the first night I slept in bed..have been sleeping in the recliner...I slept until 4 and then couldn't get comfortable so reverted back to the recliner for the rest of the night...got to do a load of laundry today and outside of that I don't have big plans..I guess I am still in 'slow mode' but the nurse said to take it easy so.....I am!!

Today is a very brisk cold day here..last night it was 48 degrees..this morning at 9:00 am it was 7 degrees with a -15 windchill...wow where did that spring like day go?? Guess it's too early to be thinking spring

Today is Monday...

And it is another snowy day here in Michigan...but warmer!! Feeling pretty good today..got dressed for the first time since being home from the hospital and have to admit it seems good! Tomorrow is my checkup at the doctors and will have the staples removed...then just have to get back into a routine..
Was a relatively quiet weekend..had visits from a couple of the ladies at the child care..Pam, Kelly and Lori also stopped Sunday and Lori brought some delicious spinach lasagna!! yummm Otherwise I took it easy and enjoyed time with hubby.
Seems different not to be thinking about going to work..I think retirement is going to agree with me!!
Started getting back into my reading..I am finishing up one of Terri Blackstock's novels called Trial by Fire..#4 in the Newpointe 911 series. Good books.

Wow Friday already..

Time is going fast..which I guess I am a bit surprised..usually when you are "grounded" the time drags...but not this time. Had hot turkey sandwiches with gravy for lunch..yummy..last of the turkey our friends brought over to us...Lori stopped on her way home from work with some "supplies" from the pharmacy..took a shopping list and is going to the store and make up some WW meals for us..thanks Lori!! I came in and checked my emails and that's about as long as I can take at the puter for now...I guess you might say that

Going to go and recline in my recliner and maybe have a power snooze..

Recovering at Home

Hi folks...it's been a week since I've been here and I must say a lot has happened in that time! The surgery was successful..all preliminary biopsys are BENIGN!! Praise the Lord..I am in quite a bit of discomfort yet but nothing that the Lord and I can't handle together..(And with the help of a wonderful hubby, family, and friends!) My surgery was Friday and I came home Sunday..today is the first I have been on the puter except to play my Scrabble games. I still have a drainage tube in so things are a little touchy but all seem to be on schedule. I have been blessed with flowers, food, gifts, and offers to help however needed...will be back in touch when feeling better!! God Bless...

Last day of work..

This was my last day at the child care before retirement...I have mixed feelings as I will miss the ladies there and the kids...but I am ready! Four of the teachers sent me this beautiful flower bouquet...




I was totally surprised!! It made the day a little more special..I opted not to work tomorrow as the prep for the surgery is keeping me close to home!! LOL
Our weather is cold and forecast is possible snow showers. Spring can come anytime it would be fine with me...
Another job finished today...hubby and I put away all the Christmas decorations and took down the tree..I enjoyed the tree so much this year..this is the second year we have had an artificial tree. I always thought I would never want one but now I love it..it is nice to be able to put it up earlier and leave it up longer..because I like the season to last and last...
Think it is time to wrap it up here..remember what an awesome God we serve!!

By the Light of God's Love

When I was out shopping 'after' Christmas..I was looking at the calendars that were discounted 50% and I spotted this small daily desk calendar...titled "By the light of God's Love" and I picked it up and thought that would be a good thing to read each morning...well today January 15th's scripture is "Then God said, ' let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens...' " Genesis 1:14 ..printed under the verse...was this comment "Like a mobile hanging above us to delight our nights." Wouldn't the sky seem so dark and lonely if God hadn't gave us lights in the heavens?? Wow what a way to show us His love!
Today was a good day..I had an appointment with my cardiologist (that I haven't needed in over 2 years!) to get a medical clearance for the surgery I am having on Friday..then I picked up some subs and took them to work for lunch and then after that I got my hair trimmed...which was needed badly. This afternoon I mixed up some WW (Weight Watchers) muffins and when I started to mix them up I discovered I was short on flour..yep had to make a trip to the grocery store..so that is done now and we have had supper and things are winding down here. Almost time to say goodnight and head to bed.

Thank you Lord for Mondays!!

Been a pretty normal Monday here...got quite a bit accomplished at work this morning and then met a good friend for lunch before heading to the grocery store and pharmacy...Was tired out when I got home but have had a little power snooze and some supper, and now getting ready to put away some more of the Christmas decorations. I have enjoyed having the decorations up longer but it's time!!

This is my last week at work...well actually Wednesday is my last day...I will be retiring after 26 years at the child care as of the first of February...I had planned on working through the 31st of January but am having abdominal/pelvic surgery on Friday the 18th so my plans have changed. Would appreciate your prayers if you think of it...the surgery is at 7:15 am.
Time to get busy..have a wonderful Tuesday and may you be especially blessed the rest of this week!!!

This is the day that the Lord has made!!!!

Praise the Lord for another wonderful day to serve Him!! It has been a great SONday..we celebrated our grandson Nick's 10th birthday and had a lot of fun and fellowship with the family! My daughter-in-law had a nice lunch and of course cake and ice cream...(that as a good Weight Watcher I refrained from!!) Hopefully that will help when I weigh in Thursday!
Been working on my blog since we got home...I am such a novice but I am learning...

Christmas Memories

Hello!! I am Alice...known to many as AliceMum!! This is my first attempt at setting up my own blog so please be patient with me!! It has been a nice day here today..did some browsing at Menard's and Home Depot while hubby looked at tools...then we made a stop at the hospital to take flowers and a get well teddy bear to a dear friend from church..she had surgery on Thursday and is doing wonderful...Stopped and brought subs home for supper and now I am doing laundry and playing on the computer and watching tv...all at the same time. Looking forward to adding to this daily...and meeting some of you that are stopping in here. Have a wonderful Saturday and a blessed Sonday!!!
