Beautiful Wednesday!

Hello there..can't believe it's 7:15 Wednesday evening already..this day has flown by!! It was a cold but sunny day here..no more snow..the ground is barely covered with the snow we got yesterday.

Haven't done a whole lot around here today, yesterday I did laundry and changed the sheets on our bed and put our new electric blanket on that we got for Christmas from Ed and Angie..our old one didn't work on my side and so last night it was nice to have a warm and cozy blanket!!

This afternoon we took a ride to a town about 30 minutes from us and had lunch at the British Tea Pantry..very nice and sort of "quaint"...it was Fred's idea and it was just what we needed today. They had some neat Christmas items in their gift shop 50% off and so I got a cute snowman figurine for my Secret sister at church.

Tomorrow night we are having a get together to reveal our Secret sisters and to find out who ours will be for the coming year..so it should be a fun evening!!

Well going to go do some reading on my new Kindle FIre..so far I really like it!! While watching the University of Toledo play Air Force in a bowl game..

Jesus' Birthday!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Wow what a day this has been!!
Started out just hubby and me opening our gifts we got each other this morning before heading out to church. It was such a blessing to seea large turnout for the service..We sang carols and then the children did their Christmas program...then the group of us (3 ladies and Fred) did the skit
called the Women of Bethlehem...(Fred was the scribe in the skit)...it was the same skit we did for the Ladies Christmas Party a couple weeks ago..Everyone really seemed to enjoy it and it is a very touching skit..

Then we came home and got things together to take to Lori's for our family pow wow!!
I had two crock pots full of wings..one buffalo wings and one chili lime wings..I also had made strawberry pretzel dessert and took some yummy Hawaiian dinner rolls...
Then Fred started the job of loading the gifts for 5 families and a couple extra boy friend/girl friend that were going to be there in the truck...and then off we went.

We had a terrific time..we got so blessed I can't even describe how full my heart is with love and gratitude from 5 wonderful kids and their families...
I want to play around with my Kindle Fire before it gets too late..I have figured out a few things about it but have a way to go!! I did find out right away how to post on FB so thatwas fun..

My hubby posted this on Facebook..which is a bit unusual for him as he doesn't participate much on Facebook..but I thought I would share it with all of you here..it's a bit long but hope you enjoy it..

FROM OUR HOME TO YOUR HOME
December 2011

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US." Matthew 1:23

Almost two thousand years ago in a field outside the city of Bethlehem, a group of shepherds watched their flocks beneath a starlit sky. In the quiet hush of the evening's calm, these men tended sheep just as their father's had done. Nothing in the ordinary events of their day prepared these shepherds for what would make this night like no other. On this night, these shepherds would be among the first to witness the fulfillment of God's promise to dwell with man. Now centuries later, you and I are enjoying abundant life because Jesus was willing to come to earth and live among us. Once again, we prepare to celebrate the greatest Gift ever given to mankind – the Gift of God's Holy Son.

We thank the Lord for you. May you experience an open heaven of His awesome presence in your life in 2012. We pray that you will be blessed with every spiritual blessing that the Lord Jesus has for you. He is a loving and a compassionate God who will provide for all of your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. He loves you with an everlasting love, He is a God who is for you, and if God be for you who can be against you? No one!!

This is a most joyous time of year, as we are celebrating the birth of Jesus, the Christ. We were reflecting on all that the Lord has done on our behalf. How He willingly gave of Himself for us that we might experience His Life.

This Christmas Season many of us will get together with family & friends, we will enjoy a Christmas meal, the giving and receiving of gifts and we will share in the many blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon us this past year. May we each reflect upon the many blessings that He has bestowed upon us and share those blessings with others. We wish you a Joyous Christmas Season and a New Year that is filled with His Peace, Hope and Love.

Sunday...December 18, 2011

Wow where have the last two months flown to?!?! I cannot believe how fast the Fall got here and now how quickly it is almost officially Winter!!
For some reason I have not been motivated to keep my blog updated..can't really give you a good excuse but maybe just lazy!! Anyway I am hoping to do better in 2012!!

I guess there is one thing that has kept me from really posting a lot..I have read oodles of books this past summer and fall. I have also been battling a very painful bout of achilles tendonitis and been to the orthopedic surgeon and he ordered a new afo brace for my foot which hopefully will prevent it from happening again right away. He had me on steroids for a week and it is some better but still hurts a lot when I am on it for a long time.

Of course preparations for Christmas are in full swing around here..got a little delayed with the foot issue but am doing ok..last week I made 2 batches of fruit cake..one of my hubby's absolute favorite dessert at Christmas time. I also made some other pastries but took them to out ladies Bible study (along with some fruit cake) and they were both hits with the ladies! I still plan on making caramel corn and almond bark/cashew bark candy...so hopefully this next week doesn't go by too fast!!

I got the news yesterday that one of my first cousins went to be with the Lord on Friday. She had been in hospice for a few weeks and it wasn't unexpected but still hard to hear. She was a great friend as well as my cousin and she will be missed. We will be going to her memorial service on Tuesday this week..it's about 2 hours from us.

Well we are watching the final episode of Survivor..Fred and I both really enjoy this show..and tonight's the finale. This afternoon after church we did a little Christmas shopping at Target and then went to the Chinese restaurant for lunch..probably one of the least expensive places to eat lunch...and have enough left for another light meal.

I am posting a couple pictures of our 2 great granddaughters..they are such blessings to us!!
