My Fall Project

Well here it is November 15th..and I have been neglectful getting here and posting. Today I made a wreath for the fall season..I have been looking around for one already made and there didn't seem to be any left..everything is Christmas at the stores..so we made a trip to Michael's last night and they had all the fall silk flowers on sale..80% off..can't beat that so I bought a grapevine wreath and made this wreath...

It was really inexpensive and I enjoyed doing it..I use to do a lot of crafts but over the last few years when I was working full time I got away from it. I am even thinking I will bake some cookies this year and give some for gifts..retirement has rejuvenated me in some areas!!

Our new Great granddaughter was born yesterday...she weighed in at 6lbs 13oz and is 19 inches long..she has strawberry blond hair and of course is gorgeous!! Her full name is
Liliana Amerie (Lily-ah-na Am-ah-ree) but everyone calls her Lily for short..just had to share with you all!!

Pam's 50th!! My oldest child!!! Wow!!! We surprised Pam with a birthday bash at a nearby restaurant last Saturday..it was loads of fun!!!

Monday...

Here we are with a nice sunny day again...we had lots of rain (that was really needed) over the weekend and along with the rain a drop in temperatures..it was 86 yesterday at noon and now it is about 70 degrees.. I have done some laundry  and some and that's about all I've done today..I have been a little lazy doing some reading....still have to go to the store...  So that is the big update here today..hope all of you are having a wonderful Monday!! Rainy Saturday in Michigan

Well Praise the Lord we are getting rain!! We have been very dry and finally yesterday we woke up to rain and it rained off and on most of the day and now today it's been a steady rain!!
I have been watching the news reports about Hurricane Ike and it is overwhelming to watch..I've been in prayer for those folks that are going through this terrible storm and will continue to pray for them.
Not too much going on today..this week has been a busy one. Monday and Tuesday we were in Amish country in Shipsewana Indiana..for our 51st wedding anniversary which was Sunday the 7th...we went to a Christian Comedian/ventriloquist show on Monday night which was really a lot of fun..had a really nice time at the B & B that we stayed at and on the way home Tuesday made a stop in Ohio at Sauder's Historic Village. Wednesday was sorta a catch up pday here around the house and then Thursday I had lunch with a friend of mine that I use to work with at the center. She treated me to lunch at Applebee's for my birthday..(a little belated but that's ok!) Then Friday my sister took me out for lunch also a belated birthday gift so I have been blessed mightily!!

Beautiful Saturday in September

Hello...it's been a week since I have been here..where does the time go?  Today I have had the privilege of spending the day with 3 of my grandkids..(Ed and Angie (son and daughter in law) are helping her Mom give her stepdad a surprise birthday party)    So I am at their house with the kids as I write this.  We spent part of the day at my house, took them to McDonald's for lunch along with Lori, Megan, and my hubby.  Then about 4:30 we came back here to the house. 

I am watching the Tigers ball game against Minnesota..looking like there is a slight chance the Tigers might win a game..they are ahead by 2 in the 8th inning.  

Well tomorrow is our 51st wedding anniversary..after church hubby and I are leaving for Amish country in Indiana for 2 nights at a Bed and Breakfast..the same one the kids gave us 4 nights at last year for our 50th... I love it down there and this B & B was wonderful so I am really looking forward to going again.

Beautiful Saturday

Wow another gorgeous day in Michigan. Wonderful weather for a holiday weekend.  Well it is college football's kickoff Saturday and as a faithful U of Michigan fan, we are watching the football game with them and Utah..as of the half time Michigan isn't doing too good but I still watch them, win or lose.  They have a new coach this year and it's been known as a rebuilding year...the U of Michigan campus is only about 45 minutes from us.  Outside of watching the game and doing some laundry, it's been a lazy day...just enjoying the nice day.

 

Friday August 29, 2008 Labor Day Weekend

Good afternoon on this Friday before Labor Day..wow..Fall is on the way..and I am in no hurry!!! Hopefully we have a nice warm and sunny September.

Here is a picture of our grandson and his wife and family...Derek left yesterday morning..deployed to Iraq.

This picture was taken the morning he left..as you can tell his wife Kim is expecting!! baby girl due in November..she will be moving back here with her folks while he is gone.

No big plans for the Labor Day weekend..hopefully the weather will be pleasant and we can grill outside. But no other big plans.

Wednesday..the 27th of August!

Another beautiful day in Michigan..low humidity and lots of sunshine!! It's just gorgeous!! I have been up to the church and wrote out the bills..did some other book work and then went to the bank and post office before coming home. Now I am trying to get motivated to go to the grocery store and do some much needed shopping!!

Yesterday I spent the afternoon visiting my best friend who was diagnosed with stomach cancer about a week ago..she is handling it well..by trusting in the Lord and she has lots of people praying for her. Her surgery is next Wed and we are all believing for a successful surgery and a complete healing.

Not much else going on here..our anniversary is coming up the 7th of September and we may take another mini trip to Mackinac Island for a couple days to celebrate.. it will be our 51st anniversary!! Wow I must be getting old!!

Well we are home from a wonderful week of relaxation at Rifle River about 3 hours from us...we spent it with one of our sons and his family...and it was also my birthday (the 16th) and our son's on the 21st..so we had lots of celebrating.

Then on Tuesday we went to Mackinac Island and enjoyed the day with our granddaughter who is working there on the Island, driving horse and carriage taxi, and did some shopping and bought some fudge..(of course)...well I have laundry to fold so will close for now...Here's one picture of many taken on the Island...enjoy

Day Before Vacation!!

Hi there!! Well it's been quite a while since I've posted here..Thought I would check in as we are leaving in the morning for Lakeshore Resorts...really a nice place but I don't really consider it a "resort"...more like a group of cottages. We are staying in a two story cottage with 3 bedrooms with our daughter Lori and her family.. Hubby got a new bright red Chevy truck a couple weeks ago so it is going to be nice to haul all our groceries, clothes etc..2 of our other children will also be there...all together we have 3 cottages reserved so it should be a fun week..nice and relaxing. Tonight our youngest son who is riding up with us, is here helping get everything packed and ready to roll in the morning..we are towing our son in law's jet ski so they are working on getting the hitch on etc. I just watered all the flowers, hanging baskets, deck boxes and some new bushes we just planted last week..my daughter in law is going to keep things watered while we are gone!! We have had a lot of rain lately but the hanging baskets still dry out really fast..

Well I think it's time for a shower and finish up whatever has to be done around the house before going to bed!! Have a wonderful weekend and will see you in a week or so!!

It's Friday!! And the 13th!!

It may be Friday the 13th but I am not superstitious so it's just another day...and it is nice that it's Friday!! We have been having some hot, muggy weather here, but I love it!! We also have had a couple damaging thunderstorms in the last week and right now we are having rain but doesn't look like any wind damage this time. Tomorrow is suppose to be cooler but no rain! We have a lot of exciting things coming up...our grandson Jeremy and his wife and baby are flying in from Florida on Sunday for a short visit..looking forward to spending a little time with them and then hubby and I are leaving on Tuesday for Mackinac Island with Lori (daughter) and Megan (granddaughter) for 4 days to see my granddaughter Alyssa who works on the Island for the summer..so that should be a fun trip!! We are staying 2 nights on the Island..it is such a peaceful place...Here is a link to one of the websites for Mackinac Island... Wow it's already June 5th!!

Well it's been a while...again...since I have been here and posted what is happening! Hubby and I just got back last night from 3 wonderful, relaxing days in Holmes County Ohio...Amish country. We spent 2 nights at a beautiful Log Cabin Suite out in the country..it was so quiet and peaceful and the cabin was beyond what you would expect when they say "log cabin"...we spent our day time hours wandering around the country side visiting the towns and shops and enjoying each other's company...evenings were so nice back at the cabin, we enjoyed the Lakeland revival on God TV channel, this healing revival has been going on for a couple months now. Spent time just doing nothing..so anyway that's what has been happening the last few days..here is a video that this amateur took of the cabin...

Thursday, May 8, 2008...Yes I think that spring is definitely in the air..it was a little cool today but I went out and took a few pictures of the lilac bushes and the apple tree that has a lot of beautiful blossoms on it right now...Then I picked a big bouquet of lilacs to put in the living room..mmmmm they smell so good when you walk in the room! It would be wonderful to have some of these early spring flowers last longer into summer..but I am enjoying them while they are here. The Gerbera daisies are going to be gifts for the mom's at church on Sunday for Mother's Day!! I haven't been in here to post what has been happening..seems like retirement is keeping me busy! but I have been going to Curves 3 times a week..and just finished getting the 3rd injection of Synvisc in my knee..hopefully this takes care of some of the pain. Otherwise physically I am doing really good..need to get back on the Weight Watcher program better..but am maintaining pretty well..now I need to get losing some more!!

Retirement Party....

As most of you know, I have retired from the child care where I had worked since March 1982. My actual retirement date was February 1st and because of the surgery I had in January...any kind of retirement party was put on hold. Well this past Sunday I was honored at a Retirement Open House and it was awesome. Several of you have heard some about the party but thought I would post about it here…(wish you all could have been there.) As you all know...

I have been blessed with a wonderful family. .and they spoil me and they did it again! All of my kids and grandkids went together and got me a Wii game!! Yep and it is soooo fun!! They also helped with the food, helping clean up etc. Lori (who still works at the center) helped with the organizing along with the new director Pat....all in all a lot of work was put into this endeavor. Decorations, food, snacks, abounded!!!

Pat brought over albums of photos that had been accumulated in the 27 years the center has been open..I had been there for 26 of those years..and there were some funny pictures!! Hmmm when did I get this white hair??? Quite a change in the pictures from 1982 to 2008!!!

I seen friends and relatives that I hadn’t seen in quite a while.. Some of the ladies that use to work for me at the center and have either retired or moved were there.

And I was blessed beyond words with wonderful cards, letters and gifts. So as you all are a part of my life I wanted to share with you one of my most memorable days. Thanks for reading this...Here are a few pics that my daughter in law took...

March 30th..after church

Here is a picture taken after church on March 30th..the lady (Tina) on the extreme left was visiting from England and had spoke at the morning service. We had a women's conference the Friday and Saturday before and she had planned on being there for the conference and then blessed us on Sunday morning..

April Showers Bring May Flowers!!

Well can you believe it?? It's finally APRIL?!?!!!! I am so glad to know that the winter should be over..you notice I said "should be" around these parts we never know when some of that white stuff might show up...but I am praying it's done until next November or December...
Today we had beautiful sunny, 50 degree weather..very little wind..all in all a beautiful day. My hubby got quite a bit of leaves, twigs, small branches etc cleaned up and I have crocuses blooming and daffodils and tulips up and budded!! Yay!!!
Today I made a visit to the center where I worked for 26 years before retiring February 1st..it is always good to stop by there and visit with the ladies!! Then I took my PT Cruiser for a tune up..stopped at a really neat Swan Creek Candle Co and got some votives...(my stock was depleted!!) Tonight was our weekly WW meeting..I was up a pound but deserved it as I was off the program a lot this past week..then we had a nice supper out...
