Wednesday....springlike day!!

it's been quite a rough few days...here is a update...A week ago (tomorrow) I was hit with a 24 hour stomach flu bug...all I can say is YUCK...it didn't last long but left me feeling out of it for a few days.  Saturday was Kelly's bridal shower and it was "wonderful" !!   Her matron of honor and the rest of the bridesmaids went way beyond the average and did an awesome job!! (Kelly is my granddaughter who is getting married in June)  Then Saturday evening when I was just relaxing and watching some tv with hubby and playing on the computer, my middle finger started itching and burning.  Looked like something had gotten into the side of my knuckle when I was working out side..(like a little sharp thing off a plant) so I put some neosporin and a band aid on it when I went to bed..well the next morning it was a 'little' bigger but nothing to worry about..(I thought) so later Sunday I took the second band aid off and it was a lot larger and very dark red and purple looking and my finger was swollen and red and very itchy...hmmm don't think this is too good I told hubby...so Monday I got in to see my doctor and she said she was pretty sure it was an infected spider bite and was concerned about it going into cellulitis (which I had last summer in my leg)..so I am on super strength antibiotics and finally this morning the swelling and itching was much better!!  It also looks much better so I am thanking the Lord big time today!!

Okay all that was probably too much information but just wanted to fill you all in...I did have a very good report last Thursday when I went for my diabetes 3 month check up so that was encouraging...My A1C blood test is down from close to 7 to 5.8 and the doctor was very happy about that.  I have lost around 52 lbs since being diagnosed last June and am working on getting some more off!! (getting a bit harder now!)

So I am going to close by sharing a couple of my spring flowers that have been blooming the last week or so..

It's Friday!

Hard to believe that it's almost May!! Wow this month has really gone fast.  As much as I want warm weather I don't want it to fly by...spring and summer is much too short as it is!! Had a busy week and then ended up with a stomach bug yesterday..the whole thing....haven't had that in a long time but am feeling almost back to normal tonight.
Tomorrow is our granddaughter...Kelly...bridal shower!! Am really looking forward to it..hard to believe that her wedding is only 2 months away!!
Had planned on working outside a bit more yesterday but then the crud hit me and put me down for the day!!  But Fred has gotten a lot done in the garden preparing it to plant.  Transplanted some rhubarb plants to a different area in the garden.  Rototilled the garden...planted some onions...so it's coming.  We made a trip to Menards the other day and I picked up a couple fun things for outdoors..one was this cute barn birdhouse..

And then I seen this really cute frog decoration...(I LOVE frogs so had to break down and get it!)

 

Looks so cute sitting on the table on the deck along with the pansys!!  I am so ready for SPRING!!

Watching the Tiger baseball game right now...nice quiet evening at home...hope everyone else is having a fantastic Friday!!

Busy Monday...

Well after a very busy weekend we had a busy Monday!! Had a couple errands to run...then fixed prosciutto wrapped asparagus to take up to our son's house..(Tim and Jen) for a little birthday celebration dinner.  Saturday was Tim's birthday and today was our son in laws birthday so we got together to celebrate..Pam, Dan, Tim, Jen, Fred and I...had a fun time and good food!!

Resurrection Sunday...

Today was not quite as quiet as our normal Sundays around our house.  After a wonderful joint church service with our other church campus...we were at Pam and Dan's for the afternoon..all of our 5 children were there...(with the exception of our oldest son who is in Florida with his family and the high school band and orchestra!!)  A lot of the grandchildren were there and 4 of the great grandchildren...a lot of food, visiting and just plain loving went on for the whole afternoon!!  So...today's blog is a little different than my usual "Sunday Quiet Thoughtful Time"  It was an absolutely fantastic day!! Thank you Lord!!

Finding Hope in Unexpected Places

I have been following Holly Gerth for quite a while and am continually blessed by her emails etc...today was no exception and so I am sharing it here with all of you...enjoy and be blessed..

Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:3-4

When I first read the verse above, I wondered if my Bible had a typo. Wasn’t hope supposed to be at the beginning of the list? That’s certainly where I wanted it to be.

I didn’t like the idea of going through suffering, perseverance, and character to get to hope.

My thoughts reflect our culture today. We view hope as an emotion rather than an outcome of choices we make. We also think hope should be automatic. Then when we don’t find it right away, we despair. But this passage makes it clear that hope is a process.

The first step in that process is suffering. Loss is a part of life. We’ll all endure hardship and heartache on this side of heaven. When we suffer, we have two choices: press on or give up. Jim Rohn once said, “We all must suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.”

If we choose discipline and perseverance, then this pattern gradually becomes part of who we are—our character. Character doesn’t change based on circumstances or who is watching at the moment. As Dwight L. Moody said, “Character is what you are in the dark.”

Character also becomes a light in the dark because it eventually results in hope. This kind of hope is not a vague feeling or wish. Instead it’s a deep knowledge that you and God can get through anything together. That’s the heart of hope: choosing to walk with God through the valleys of life and finding that He will never leave you–and that you will never leave Him either.

We all wonder how our faith will fare when challenges come our way. If you’re still reading this, my guess is you’re choosing perseverance and character. You’ve faced what you never wanted, and your faith is surviving, perhaps even thriving. Even if you have doubts, fears, and many difficult moments, you’re pressing on and moving forward. And I’m cheering you on with every step…no matter how small or slow.

Take heart, friend, you are doing better than you know. Jesus is with you. Your sisters are for you. And hope is on its way.

Oops....Winter is Back!

Well we had a few beautiful warmer days but this afternoon the cold air started back into our area..yesterday was in the 70's...today??? the high was 60 and now it's down to 45!! Snow forecast for tonight..but hopefully it won't last long with the ground being warm!!  April in Michigan..you have to ♥ it!

Friday..already?!?

Another week has flown by...oh my goodness I hope our Spring and Summer doesn't go this fast!! It seems like it was Winter for a "long" time but even then the days went by so quickly.  Yesterday came and went before I could even get in here to post about my day!  It was a busy day but fun.  Had lunch out with one of my bestie girl friends at Chili's...and we sat and visited for over 2 hours!!  Then did some errands..grocery shopping.  After supper and Kelly and Josh's counseling session we went to Walmart and did some needed shopping...so it was a busy day.

Today started out with son in love Bill coming over to check out our pipes under the house in the crawl space...everything seemed okay..then he dug up the septic tank to see if there was a pipe leading to it that wasn't working right.  Ended up everything is looking pretty good except we did have the tank emptied while it was dug up...tomorrow Bill will be back to finish filling it in and do some other odds and ends with it and put in a new outdoor faucet.  So anyway that was our exciting Friday!!  Tonight we did have a nice 'date'.  We went to Cracker Barrel for supper.  Now we are watching the Tiger baseball game..late one because it's being played in California. 

I have to tell you though that it was an absolutely GORGEOUS Spring day here..around 73 degrees and lots of sunshine.  I didn't get out to work in the yard but plan to do that tomorrow..

  I could easily live in India...My husband and I would love to minister there to the people and tell them how much God loves them.  I love the people there.

Happy Rainy Monday!

It's been a rainy day here in Michigan but we will take it over snow!! Today is our daughter's birthday..(Lori) and her son Josh's birthday also.  So lots of celebrating around here!!  We went out for supper with Lori and her hubby this evening..I had shrimp...delicious...and we had a lot of fun reminiscing... wow where have the years gone?!?!  I just posted on my Simple Women's Daybook blog and  my Photo Blog so stop over and visit when you have the time.   Going to go check on my emails and then do some reading...may you all have a blessed week!!

Rainy, Windy, Chilly Friday!

Can't believe it's Friday already!! Wow the days are flying by...so glad that April is here and hopefully it won't be too long until we get some warmer temperatures.  I seen that Minnesota got more snow..oh I feel for all of you that live there!! Enough already!!

Hubby asked me this morning if I would like to go to the movies and see God Is Not Dead and of course I said yes..we had been talking about it but hadn't gotten there yet.  It was raining and dreary outside so thought it was a good day to do something inside!  So we went to the afternoon matinee..."Very" good movie..I had heard so much about it that I pretty much knew the story line but we really enjoyed it.  Then we went to our favorite place to eat...Cracker Barrel for supper...delicious as usual!! So we had a "day date" and enjoyed it very much!! ♥  Now we are in for the evening..nothing too much to watch on tv but we are enjoying a quiet evening and it's nice to be in out of the rainy weather!

Our baseball team did really well today..played the Orioles and won 10-4...way to go Tigers!!

Well think I will kick back in my recliner and do some reading on my Kindle Fire...Have a wonderful weekend!!
