Well as you can tell I am a little behind!! :) I haven't been here for several weeks except for Simple Women's Daybook but I am back and I am going to try to be better about blogging!!

It was a rough January for me but I am doing much better and feeling more like my old self...literally old self!! LOL I had a bout of the shingles in January..actually started around Christmas..then a nasty cold but am recovered and thank the Lord for touching me and healing up these problems.

It's been a cold and snowy month, not a huge amount of snow, just enough to keep everything nice and white. We are expecting a snow storm the beginning of the week (that's what the weathermen are saying) have to wait and see I guess.

Not a lot of news here..it's been a quiet month after such a busy December.
We did have a couple birthdays in January. Our daughter in law Sharon and our granddaughter Alyssa. Alyssa lives on Mackinac Island year round now and wasn't able to make it home for Christmas or her birthday..but she is enjoying all the snow they have there and enjoying her snowmobile on the island..the only time a gas powered vehicle is allowed on the island!

Our grandson Derek is in the Navy and was out on ship for about 6 months..he got home right around Christmas and wasn't able to get here to Michigan until the first part of January..he has 2 little girls that live close by us with their Mom and stepdad and so he was very anxious to get here to spend 10 days with them..our daughter Pam and her husband had a get together at their house so we could all have some time to catch up with Derek.

Review of Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball

This is my first review for Blogging for Books..


Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball by Donita K. Paul I found to be a much different Christmas story than I was expecting. Not usually one for magic type stories I found this one to be hard to get into at the beginning.
The story is about 2 people (Cora and Simon) who have worked together for 5 years and have rarely if never spoken. They are drawn together through a series of “coincidents” that start while they both are at an old fashioned bookstore on a street that is out of the way and for most not even there!!
As things continue they both discover they have tickets to the same Christmas Ball that they can find little if no information about. As the story progresses Cori’s dysfunctional sister comes into the story line and needless to say adds another whole avenue to this story. On the other hand Simon’s sister, Sandy is a bright spot through this whole novella….without her the story would have lost a lot of it’s “magic”….

Donita K. Paul did a wonderful job of weaving a little magic, romance, Christmas and a Christian message all into one story.

January 4, 2011...wow where did 2010 go?!?!

Good afternoon on this chilly Tuesday afternoon..first Tuesday in January of a brand new year!!
It's been a rough few days for me, not the way I had planned on starting the new year....but things are looking up..this is just a brief capsule of the last week...


On Friday the 31st, after a week of thinking I had a stressed out muscle in my neck/shoulder I progressively got worse. (started on Christmas eve but very mild)...The last two days the burning pain and ache had been awful. Then when I was getting ready to go to the breakfast get together on Thursday I noticed a cluster of bumps (pimples) on the back of my neck right under my hair line..itchy and sore at the same time..then during the day they seemed to multiply..the pain got worse and by that night it was rough sleeping..so Friday morning I went to the doctor and got the diagnosis...shingles!! Not what I wanted to hear..so he put me on antiviral pills, steroids and pain pills..I didn't think I'd need the pain pills but the ibuprofen definitely wasn't cutting it so I broke down and took a pain pill and it does help..doesn't take the burning and the pain completely away but it's better!!


As the weekend and then the first of this week has come and gone the rash is better but I am still having quite a bit of pain in the neck/shoulder so that is why my blog has suffered. Not much energy to do anything...have played games on the computer but that's about it!! LOL


Our New years eve got canceled, we had planned on spending it at the New years eve party at church..then on New Year's our daughter and son came over and we watched bowl games together and had a nice afternoon..the rest of the time it's just been me and hubby. I'll be back when I get more energy and tell you all about the wonderful Christmas we had!! What a wonderful family we have!!
