Finally some photos...

I said I was going to get back the next day after my birthday to post some photos of my new plant, but as you can tell it's been a while!!

Finally...

Wednesday the 24th...my daughter and her niece went raspberry picking and brought me 2 quarts of beautiful red raspberries..so like my mom use to do, I made 6 raspberry cakes...enjoyed one and then put the other 5 in the freezer to enjoy this winter!!

Then a couple days later....I made a chocolate zucchini cake..mainly because we had extra zucchini and I love this cake!! I am not a big cake eater but this one I do like!!


So that's what I've been doing the last couple weeks..along with fixing lots of veggies out of the garden...including...egg plant, summer squash, green beans, new potatoes, tomatoes, peppers...etc..all in all a very nice variety of fresh produce. Fred has been the gardener and has done an awesome job!!
I plan on being back here a bit quicker next time...can't believe that August is almost over....I don't want cold weather!! Hopefully it will be a while before that happens.

Birthday!!

Good evening from a cooler Michigan!! Our evening are starting to cool off and makes for good sleeping weather (without the AC)...

Well today was my birthday and I have to tell you I was blessed big time..to back up a couple days...on Sunday evening some of the family along with Fred and I went out to a Mexican restaurant for supper..it wasn't a planned thing it just happened that three of our kids and some of their families all stopped by our place and we decided to go for supper..They said it could be an early birthday celebration so that was fine with me..

Today..Lori text me and wanted to know what I was up to for lunch..well nothing I guess..so she came and picked me up and we went to Chili's for lunch. She brought me a beautiful plant..a yellow Calla Lily..really pretty.. it's sitting in the living room looking so nice!!

Then when she brought me home, my hubby had been out shopping and gave me a gorgeous Hibiscus bush and then asked me where I wanted it planted and we went out and got it in the ground..It's a perennial so will be able to enjoy it next spring too!!

This evening hubby and I went to one of our favorite restaurants..The Seafood and I had my absolute favorite meal.."lobster"!! It was so yummy...it helped that this restaurant sends out cards for your birthday that have a 10 dollar value to take off your meal.. After we finished they brought a small one layer birthday cake and we both had a little sliver and brought the rest of it home..so all in all a great birthday...

I will take some pictures tomorrow of the new plants..but I just wanted to post what I did today on my special 72nd birthday!! Blessings...

My flowers are looking a little sad right now..we had a dry and VERY hot July.
We were on vacation for a week but my great neighbor kept them watered but they still are looking a bit worn out right now. My hubby planted some Morning Glory seeds and Sunflower and I have
been able to get a couple pics of them so here they are.....

And here is one of my favorites this summer..Mexican Heather and a beautiful purple foliage plant that I cannot remember the name!! :)

Beautiful Wednesday!

We had a beautiful day today..but I guess I have said that a lot this summer. :) Today was a bit cooler..the high was around 75 degrees..lots of sunshine, breezes but no humidity!! So nice to be outside..enjoyed some weeding, watching the fish in the pond, and then took some pictures of Fred's awesome garden..so I am going to share them here with you!!

We have really enjoyed the garden and of course the yummy produce! What a difference it has made with the new fence Fred put up this spring.. none of those little critters that ate the garden last year!! :)

County Fair week..

Good evening..it's been a busy couple days here..yesterday the weather cooled off a bit..from mid 90's to low 80's so hubby and I decided it was a good day to go to the county fair. It also was overcast and even looked like we might get some rain and we had a nice breeze so figured it would be somewhat comfortable. We got there in early afternoon and started looking through the 4H barns and exhibit halls and then we went through the huge merchants expo hall that is air conditioned....and very cool!! We spent some time in there, then looked at a collection of antique tractors (or I should say Fred looked at the tractors) I took that opportunity to sit and rest for a few minutes. We headed to the show arena after that and watched some mule hitches..we also managed to get some good fair food for lunch and before heading home I had to have my favorite fair food...an elephant ear!! So yummy!!

Today, we hadn't made any definite plans except to get the laundry done..well around 1:00 and the laundry was about finished hubby said how about going back to the fair and see the draft horses and the mini horse show in the arena..so we got ourselves ready and headed back up to the fair..Had another great day and enjoyed some more fair food and wandered around more of the exhibits before heading home. Weather was good..warm but a nice breeze and overcast again..perfect fair weather.

Tomorrow we will be staying home and doing some work around the garden and yard. Fred has green beans ready to pick in the garden..so that means I will be making green beans and bacon for supper tomorrow night along with summer squash and maybe fried green tomatoes!! Our tomatoes are not ripening yet and our sweet corn isn't ready so I may be making a stop at a vegetable stand up the road to get some of both to go with our veggies.

So that's what has been going on here in Michigan..tomorrow is suppose to be another beautiful day in the mid 80's...have I told you lately that I LOVE SUMMER!! My absolute favorite season!!
