Miracle Of The Empty Tomb

Good Friday

Good Friday" should be called "Black Friday." On this day the most scandalous betrayal of justice in human history took place. But when we remember what happened on this day we'll know why we call it "Good Friday" today.

After Jesus' illegal trials, he was stripped and tied to a post, then scourged with a long whip in which were imbedded nails, lead balls, and pieces of shell. They ripped the flesh from his back; many men died under such torture.

A crown of razor-sharp thorns was pressed onto his head, impaling his scalp and forehead. He was forced to carry a wooden cross to Calvary. There nails were driven through his wrists and ankles into the wood and he was left to die. He could have called ten thousand angels to his side, but he refused. Instead, he died there for you and for me.

Never again wonder if you are loved. God thought your eternal life worth the death of his only Son. If you had been the only sinner on the planet, Good Friday would still have happened, just for you. Someone asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" He answered, "This much," as he spread out his arms and died. All for you. Just for you.

Maundy Thursday

Today is Maundy Thursday. "Maundy" comes from the Latin mandatum, meaning "mandated." The title reminds us of Jesus' statement on this night: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another" (John 13:34). How did he love us?

Tonight, Jesus will sweat drops of blood as he prays in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:44). He will watch the soldiers as they march toward him with torches in hand. He could flee at any time and return to the safety of Galilee, but he will wait for them to arrest him. He will suffer illegal trials, torture, and condemnation as "the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world" (Revelation 13:8). He will do all of this for you. He considers your eternal life worth his death. (Dennison Forum)

Holy Week...

I am a bit behind but wanted to share some thoughts about this 'Holy week' the week before Resurrection Sunday or Easter as it has become known as.  These thoughts are not mine totally but accumulated from several other sources...seeing I am starting late, I have combined the first three days into this post.  I hope you enjoy them..

When I was a child, Holy Week, (the week preceding Easter) was always so special. We would think of what Jesus was doing as He was preparing His trip to the Cross. On Monday, He cleansed the temple declaring the Temple of the Lord should be a place of Prayer. How is your Temple today? I am examining mine.

On Tuesday of Holy Week we find Jesus teaching in the Temple courts. He spent much of this day debating with the Pharisees and other religious authorities. Why were they so opposed to him? One motive was materialistic: the Pharisees "loved money" (Luke 16:14). For instance, they hoarded money they should have used to support their parents, a practice Jesus severely criticized (Matthew 15:3-6). They illustrated the fact that "the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs" (1 Timothy 6:10). Wednesday is Silent Wednesday in Holy Week. The Gospels do not record a single event in the life of Jesus on this day. He spent this day in quiet with his disciples at the home of his friends, Mary, Martha, and Lazarus (Matthew 21:17). As he so often sought his Father in prayer (cf. Mark 1:35), he spent Silent Wednesday in prayerful preparation for all that would soon come.---Are you Ready for the soon return of the Risen King?(Dennison Forum)
