Good evening on this beautiful Thursday evening! The last time I made it in here to post we were in Mackinaw City and having a great mini vacation..Sunday the 30th we took the ferry to Mackinac Island..had an early lunch with our granddaughter Alyssa and her boyfriend Jeff. She had to be at work at noon so that's why we ate early..Fred and I spent the day looking around some of the shops, walking the boardwalk down by the water..watching a group fly "lots" of kites, we sat and people watched, and enjoyed all the hustle and bustle of Mackinac Island on a busy holiday weekend and on a Sunday!! I was amazed at all the lilacs that were already in bloom..gorgeous...just absolutely gorgeous!! At home our lilacs are all done but this is early for on the Island...they have a Lilac Festival coming up in a couple weeks and sometimes they aren't blooming even then..but this year it's been warmer and they are pretty much in full bloom.



Later in the afternoon we met up with Alyssa again while she was on her supper break and had some more quality time together..after that we headed back to the dock to catch the ferry back to Mackinaw City. had a great evening and a nice supper out...
Monday morning we headed north...over the Mackinac Bridge and drove about an hour into the Upper Peninsula..went and checked out a cottage where we are going at the end of July with our daughter Lori and her family..it is near Curtis Michigan on Big Manistique Lake..then we drove up to Grand Marais on Lake Superior and did some more sight seeing..then headed back and stopped at a really nice Inn and Restaurant near Curtis.. we sat by one of the windows and had a beautiful view of the lake and a delicious lunch!



Well I think I will close for tonight..will be back tomorrow and finish posting about the last couple days of our time away!! Blessings to all of you...
